Beauty Industry Ethics and Practice 5N3470 QQI/FETAC Level 5
 
 
The purpose of this award is to equip the learner with the knowledge skill and competence to understand the business practices and ethics within the Beauty Therapy Industry and to develop positive, professional working relationship.
 
 
Who should apply:
 
Anyone interested in working in the Beauty Therapy sector.
 
 
Learners will be able to:
 
1. Explain the importance of professionalism in relation to the Beauty Therapist and the work environment
 
2. Explain the importance of building a good rapport and working relationship with clients, the medical profession and other therapists
 
3. Explain the importance of professional ethics for the Beauty Therapy Industry
 
4. Describe the different types of insurance available and its importance to the industry
 
5. Explain different methods of marketing which could be used to promote beauty therapy services
 
6. Outline the importance of maintaining good public relations
 
7. Explain the importance of effective client communication
 
8. Explain the principles and procedures of basic first aid and safety as required by a Beauty Therapist within a practice
 
9. Outline an emergency evacuation procedure
 
10. Describe the types of fire-fighting equipment required within a Beauty Therapy practice
 
11. Explain the importance of basic bookkeeping principles and practices required to run a business
 
12.Describe the importance of stock control
 
13. Explain the principles of retail selling and retail services
 
14. Evaluate the importance of continuous professional development for a Beauty Therapist
 
15. Describe the role of the receptionist in a Beauty Salon
 
16. Plan the interior of a salon and or treatment room
 
17. Devise an appropriate beauty therapy marketing strategy
 
18. Devise a plan to appropriately cost treatments and products
 
19. Implement good practice with regard to health and safety guidelines
 
20. Communicate and behave in a professional manner.

          Exam  70%                Assignment   30%

The grading of the QQI/FETAC component is as follows:
 
Pass - 50-64%           Merit  -  65-79%         Distinction - 80-100%

               Ideal for those seeking employment in Salons, Health farms, Spas and Cruise Liners or people interested in

Component Certification:
Following successful completion Kilmuckridge Centre of Further Education will offer a QQI/ FETAC Level 5 component in Beauty Industry Ethics and Practice 5N3470 QQI/FETAC which is a Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
 
 
Learner Progression:
Beauty Industry Ethics and Practice 5N3470 QQI/FETAC Level 5 is a component of
Beauty Therapy Level 5
Learners who successfully complete this programme may use the associated credits as a stand-alone qualification or as one component of a Major Award, with a view to moving up to the next level.

All training is delivered in a friendly and comfortable training centre with experienced and dedicated tutors focusing on ensuring each trainee is given every opportunity to learn the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in order to excel in their Beauty Therapy role.
